#InclusiveChic – Sharing The Best Accessible Ideas

This post is by Vicki of Wheel Chic Home reblogged here to help spread the word about the @InclusiveChic account and #IncluisveChic hashtag we are co-hosting over on Instagram!
.

Those of you who haven’t spotted the hashtag #InclusiveChic on my social media, Vaila from The Inclusive Home and I have relaunched the hashtag and set up a new Instagram account to share the best accessible and inclusive ideas around.

So far we’ve been really pleased with the level of support and input the hashtag has received, we have over 500 posts and nearly 400 followers which is great for such a niche area!

We will be continuing with sharing the best in accessible design in 2020 and we’d love for you to join in.

To join in, just add #InclusiveChic to your posts.  We run with a theme every couple of weeks and we share our favourites on our Instagram Grid – but you don’t have to post to the theme, share what you’ve spotted on your travels.

You also don’t need to have a disability in the home to take part.  You might find a great hotel room or restaurant on your travels that has added great accessibility or inclusive design for all.

Some of our favourite posts this year are:

This beautiful bathroom from Beks_Place is brilliant.  It’s on the ground floor, has fabulous seating and tiling and is super stylish:

Sticking with the bathroom, Sandra from Wheely Love Living has had a great idea to assist her husband in the toilet.  The two grab bars are positioned to help get up from the toilet but also are great for squeezing his shoulder in between them so he can stand carefully when using the loo.  They also look pretty stylish if you ask me, a real feature point too.

Into the bedroom now and Jo from WheelieLiving has such a great sense of style, and she has nailed it in her brand new bathroom renovation, her kitchen and now the bedroom.  See if you can find the hidden grab rail on the right of the bed, it fits in with the decor perfectly!

Sometimes medical equipment will always remain ugly and neccessity means it’s on display at all times, however SammyPotter4 has managed to find an easy way to get around it.  Using these fab trolleys (from Ikea or Hobbycraft) you can match them into your decor and style, have one for each type of equipment and they’re also on wheels, so perfect for moving around from one room to another.  For those with visual issues the different colours of the trollies are also helpful.  Or you can spray paint them pretty easily.  A great idea.
